I'm telling!

I don't know about you, but if I hear one more kid whine, "I'm telling!" I think I may pull my hair out.  My class is full of tattlers reporters.  I searched high and low and finally found the book of my dreams, A Bad Case of Tattle Tongue.  It's a story of a young boy who reports everything he sees and drives everyone around him crazy.  No one wants to play with him or sit with him.  The Tattle Prince comes to visit him while he is sleeping and teaches him the difference between tattling and informing an adult of something important. The Tattle Prince has 4 rules:
1.  Be a Danger Ranger- It's not tattling if someone could get hurt.
2.  Be a Problem Solver- solve your own problems.
3.  Now or Later?  Some problems can be solved later, some must be solved now.
My favorite rule
4. MYOB- Mind Your Own Business

Here's the chart we made to help us remember the tattle rules so we don't come down with tattle tongue.  So far, it's helped my friends out tremendously.  We have had to refer to our chart, but our tattles are definitely slowing down.  How do you prevent tattling?

First Grade Common Core

A few weeks ago, I found an amazing resource for kindergarten teachers who are implementing the common core.  I am super excited that I found it available for 1st grade teachers.  Since I teach k-5, this has greatly cut my work down!  I am so excited to share this with you because the K book greatly reduced my work load, and now this book will take even more work off of me.  The activities are all aligned with First Grade Common Core.  Now when I'm doing lesson plans, I can cross off half of my to-do list because the activities are already made for me.  I just have to print!  I can't say enough about these books. Please don't take my word for it, hop on over and check it out yourself.  You will love this book as much as I do!

A Special Offer and a Winner!!

Has your school/district adopted the common core this year?  Our district has.  It is changing the way that I teach which is great and a bit difficult.  Change is always hard for me.  I have spent quite a bit of time updating most of my products on TpT by including the CCSS.  To celebrate that I am almost finished with this project, I have my entire store on sale.  Plus, I am also offering a BOGO.  Email me with your TpT user name, the product you purchased, and the product you would like for FREE!  You can get one free product (equal or lesser value of paid product) for every product that you purchase.  Hurry, offer ends on Sept. 7 at midnight.  You can find my store HERE.  My email is LifeInSpecialEducation@gmail.com

In other news, Congrats to Courtney, the winner of the giveaway sponsored by 2 Cutie Patooties!

If you didn't win and just can't live without their super cute bags, head over and order from her.  Here's her FB and here's the catalog.
