Tattle Tongue

Have you ever heard of Tattle Tongue?  I absolutely love this book.  It has helped my kids year after year learn what is important to let their teacher know and what they need to let go.  This is a story of a young boy who reports everything he sees and drives everyone around him crazy.  No one wants to play with him or sit with him.  The Tattle Prince comes to visit him while he is sleeping and teaches him the difference between tattling and informing an adult of something important. The Tattle Prince has 4 rules:
1.  Be a Danger Ranger- It's not tattling if someone could get hurt.
2.  Be a Problem Solver- solve your own problems.
3.  Now or Later?  Some problems can be solved later, some must be solved now.
My favorite rule
4. MYOB- Mind Your Own Business

Here's the chart we made to help us remember the tattle rules so we don't come down with tattle tongue.  It has helped my students out tremendously.  We often refer to our chart, and it really helps to reduce the tattles.  How do you prevent tattling?

World Gratitude Day

Today is World Gratitude Day.  My friend Mel has set up a hop so we can all celebrate it.  The hop starts here:

Frog Spot Blog From the Pond

It's an opportunity for us to think about what we have and and to be thankful.  I am thankful for so many things.   I am thankful for my family and church family.  Without them, I would have absolutely nothing.  They are my everything.  I am so thankful for the love, support, encouragement they give me daily.  I am thankful for my kids.  They make life so much more interesting.  I wouldn't trade anything for the time I get to spend with them.
I am thankful for all of you out there in cyber land.  As a little thank you, I have a little freebie for you.  I have marked my Yakker Tracker to free until Monday.  I created this to help reduce talking out in my classroom and it really helped.  I know we are all thankful for a quieter classroom.

Continue the hop and meet Michelle.

I Love Books!

I LOVE books!  I would read all day if I could get away with it.  I try to share this love of reading with my daughters and my students.  I have found a couple of wonderful books that I would love to share with you over the next few weeks.

I found the book, I Am, Too!  It is a great little picture book.  It shows kids that they are more alike than they are different.

The story is simple and best suited for early elementary level.  The pictures are bright and colorful.  This is a great introduction for kids about disabilities.  I really love the positive focus the book has.  You can find this book here.  My goal is to start sharing more books that I use in my classroom.  What are some of your favorite books?
